Two New Fire Stations Rising in Rockingham County

Harman Construction is currently leading the construction of two new fire stations for Rockingham County: Dayton and Fulk’s Run. While work at Fulk’s Run is focused on interior finishes, the Dayton Station is progressing rapidly with steel erection, roof installation, and other structural work.

Fire Station Features

Both stations feature a Butler pre-engineered metal building design, similar to the previously completed Station 10, with slight differences in fire suppression systems and overhead doors to meet each station’s unique requirements. Each will include:

• Eight Bunk Rooms

• A Training Facility

• A Workout Area

• An Apparatus Bay

These spaces are designed to fully support the daily operations of Rockingham County’s firefighters.

Overcoming Weather Challenges

This past summer brought historically wet conditions, creating hurdles for both sites, especially in Dayton, where groundwork and road work had to be completed before construction could move forward. Despite the delays, the Harman team and its partners have worked steadily to keep the projects moving.

Streamlining Project Progress With Subcontractors

Harman Construction’s long-standing relationship with Rockingham County extends to the subcontractors who help bring each project to life. “With having the privilege of partnering with Rockingham County on multiple fire stations, we partner with most of the same subcontractors who would help streamline the process and keep things rolling smoothly so we can get this station completed for the county and get the firefighters moved in”, explains Kevin Campbell, Senior Project Manager.
