Position Overview

The Business Development Executive is a strategic growth leader responsible for expanding Harman’s reach in the marketplace, building strong relationships, and securing new opportunities that align with the company’s revenue and growth goals. This individual will champion Harman’s brand, develop key partnerships, and serve as the relational bridge between prospective clients and our internal team.

Success in this role requires a people-first mindset, accountability, and a passion for connecting organizations with the value of Design-Build solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Growth

  • Identify emerging market opportunities, trends, and partnerships in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding communities.

  • Build and sustain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities across multiple sectors.

Client & Relationship Development

  • Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective clients, architects, engineers, developers, and key community decision makers.

  • Represent Harman at industry events, networking functions, and local community engagements.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor focused on solutions, alignment, and long-term partnership.

Sales Process & Pipeline Management

  • Lead the full business development lifecycle from lead generation through project handoff.

  • Collaborate with estimating, marketing, and leadership to develop pursuit strategies and winning proposals.

  • Utilize CRM tools to track activity, pipeline metrics, and business forecasting.

Brand, Marketing & Positioning

  • Partner with Marketing to strengthen Harman’s brand presence and visibility.

  • Support content development, community sponsorships, outreach campaigns, and thought leadership efforts.

  • Ensure messaging reflects Harman’s culture, capabilities, and value proposition.

Internal Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with Executive Leadership to refine market positioning and annual BD goals.

  • Provide consistent reporting and market intelligence to guide strategic decisions.

  • Support continuous improvement of the client experience throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Strong marketplace network and demonstrated ability to develop new business.

  • Skilled communicator who can build relationships and influence across diverse audiences.

  • Self-starter with strategic thinking, initiative, and a growth mindset.

Preferred:

  • Proven success in business development, client relationship management, or strategic sales within construction, architecture, engineering, or commercial real estate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Experience with the Design-Build model and ability to articulate its value.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems and structured sales or pursuit methodologies.
